CLARKSVILLE, TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW) – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Health Foundation (CMCCHF) is pleased to honor Bill Wyatt through an endowment to Austin Peay State University.
The Bill Wyatt Distinguished Professorship Award will provide resources for Austin Peay professors to expand student knowledge and experiences in the area of health sciences. Awards will be used for projects which focus on the mission of the CMC Health Foundation.
The mission supports charitable, scientific and educational purposes designed to promote the general health of residents in Clarksville and Montgomery County, along with Robertson, Cheatham, Dickson, Houston and Stewart Counties, as well as Fort Campbell.
The vision and determination shown by Wyatt was recognized as making possible the establishment of the CMC Community Health Foundation, which has granted 41 nonprofit organizations more than $13 million over 14 years.
This contribution to the health of the community began when Wyatt, as president of the Board of Trustees of Clarksville Memorial Hospital, worked to ensure that part of the proceeds from the sale of the local hospital in 2006 were invested for the purpose of awarding local health grants.
Wyatt became a founding member and chairman of Volunteer Health, which held assets from the sale until they were delivered to and invested by the CMC Health Foundation.
Graduating from APSU in 1970, Wyatt has been a long-term supporter of the university. The Bill Wyatt Distinguished Professorship Award will ensure that his commitment to Austin Peay and its ability to positively influence the health of the community will be felt and appreciated for many years to come.
“It feels great to me, but these people have done all of the work, I just kind of helped get it set up in the beginning. The community health foundation board of directors has done a lot of great things and will continue to do so,” Wyatt said.
